The Amsterdam-based artist, Malin Ryberg’s work, transcends depiction to become pathways or portals to alternate realities. Layers of colours and fluid forms conceive abstract landscapes, characters or undefinable emotions — equally recognisable as alien.
In close conversation with mysticism, folklore & fairytale, she contemplates topics of mental health, self-actualisation and – ultimately, interconnecting, or blurring, boundaries between what we deem real and unreal.
With intuition central to her process, she likes to think through painting and, this way, stay in touch with the subconscious.
