The true Path goes via a rope. Here the rope is a metaphor for decisions taken in choosing to follow. This work is inspired by a Kafka text sung in musical work by Hungarian composer Gyorgy Kurtag, Kafka Fragmente, 1986. The idea here is that choices we make start in childhood and it plays a decisive role in life. We never let go of it. Hence the small figure pulling on ropes with larger-than-life toy marionettes behind him represents the omnipresent childhood as well as the child within us all.
