Fue el Estado
Apparently just a sunny street of San Miguel (Mexico). Except this painting depicts somewhat how Mexico operates today, a sort of critical X ray of sorts. The colonial architecture of the once powerful (though now long gone), still reminds everyone today who is in control. Though this picture is not updated (I promess to soon) a bit of a military truck can be seen on the right hand side, speaking of the unsafe current conditions of a country at war with the major drug trafficking cartels and itself. A graffity on the wall manifests: "It was the State" (which in this case refers to the dissapearance of the 43 students of Ayotzinapa, one of the most terrifying cases of Mexico's recent tragic history). Thus the hidden voice of the people of Mexico accuse given the evidence, while a simple woman (representing the vast majority) walks down the street minding her own business as the now usual convoy roll by her side minding their business as usual.
Ayotzinapa won't be forgotten.
