Cognition denotes the sum of all thought- and perception processes and their mental results, such as knowledge, opinions, judgments, attitudes, beliefs, expectations, and intentions, whereby cognitions can run consciously or unconsciously. Thus cognitions include what individuals think about themselves, their environment, other people, their past, present, and the future. It can influence emotions or be influenced by them.
