Bloom into Spring with our Flower Press Ceramics Workshop

Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate the season than by creating your own unique ceramic piece adorned with beautiful pressed flowers?

Join us at st-Art Studio in Amsterdam for our upcoming Live Flower Press Ceramics Workshop, led by the talented Lorena.

This two-hour workshop is the perfect opportunity to explore the art of using flowers and plants as a decorative technique on clay. You’ll have the chance to hand-build a plate and experiment with other ceramic forms, all while learning the process of pressing flowers into the clay.

A selection of dried blooms will be available for you to choose from, but feel free to bring your own special flowers, lace, shells, or other natural elements you’d like to incorporate. No prior experience with clay is necessary – Lorena will guide you through every step, from preparing the clay to creating unique plate shapes.

By the end of the workshop (first we will have to glaze & fire them), you’ll have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind ceramic piece to take home and display. It’s the perfect way to add a touch of spring to your space and celebrate the beauty of nature.

“Join me to explore a decorative technique where botanicals meet earth. Incorporating the process of flower pressing to infuse your creations with a touch of nature.”

Don’t miss out on this chance to get creative and connect with the natural world. Sign up for the Flower Press Ceramics Workshop today and let your creativity bloom!

Register now for the Flower Press Ceramics Workshop on April 14, 2024 @ 10-12:00 at the beautiful st-Art Amsterdam Studio. Spots are limited, so secure your place today!

Frans Hals: the Everlasting Avant-Gardist

Frans Hals, a painter who met a humble end in the late 17th century, only to be rediscovered in the 19th century, now draws almost half a million tickets in advance sales at Rijksmuseum, in Amsterdam. With his nearly 200 works, Hals is a portrait maestro. That’s it. Van Gogh thought so too. His technique is simple, but with playful brushstrokes on a palette of a few colors – art on a modest scale. But what sets him apart from other artists of his time, is his deep understanding of the specific Dutch environment he portrayed. His success lies in the warmth he depicted in various ways. It’s a warmth that resonates with the realities of the modern world. His signature expressions are smiles and laughter. People in his paintings smile, some subtly, while others burst into hearty laughter. Yet, these simple gestures are vibrant, radiating instant energy. Even the wealthy characters, those thirsty for glory, weighed down by their powerful clothing, crack a smile.           Frans Hals: A Modern Figure of his time But who exactly was Frans Hals, really? Do we even know what he looked like? Apparently, throughout his work, he was found […]

Funny ones. Colorful ones. Charming ones. Ugly ones. Rude ones. And lots and lots of crap ones. These ideas are what you see on the walls of St-Art today, apart from the crap ones of course. Portrait Drawing Masterclass: explore lines, shapes and expression

I’ll guide you through some basics of creating a portrait using pencil and some other additional materials.
