Chantal poses for me. Although I met this young Canadian traveller in Amsterdam once, a year or so later she surprised me and came for a visit. I wanted to paint her more extrovertly and colorfully, somewhat fauve and less restraint. My small and pretty plants that I looked after so well and the ceramic pot in her bosom symbolic of water, of birth & life as women are. How lovely when friends come down to visit. How lovely when they stay forever, like you now have.
